WHAT TYPE OF LESSONS DOES THE GUITAR ACADEMY OFFER?
Our staff of qualified instructors offers a full range of electric and acoustic guitar lessons in Colorado Springs, as well as violin and piano. We teach absolute beginners to advanced players. Ages offered: Early childhood right thru to Retiree age!
WHEN DO YOU OFFER LESSONS?
We teach Monday - Friday, 12.00pm - 8:00pm
HOW MUCH DO LESSONS COST?
We have several lesson programs to choose. Pick the best one for your budget and goals:
Gold: Our Gold program consists of a private, weekly lesson and costs $85 per MONTH for 30 minute lessons or $160 per MONTH for 60 minute lessons. The 30 minute lessons are our most popular program for beginners, and produces the best and quickest results.
Silver: Our Silver program consists of one private lesson every other week (two per month) and costs $25 for each 30 minute lesson or $40 for each 60 minute lesson. This is a great option for busy people who don't have time for a weekly lesson.
Group Lessons: You can make any hour lesson a group lesson if you have more than one child or you want to take lessons with another adult. Just add $7 per lesson. Because of time factors, we are unable to offer this in a 30 minute format.
HOW DO YOU SCHEDULE LESSONS?
We do not have contracts. Each student pays their monthly tuition at the beginning of the month, which holds their lesson day and time for the month. Essentially, we find an open time slot that works with your schedule, and that time slot is your's until you need a different time slot or decide to stop lessons.
CAN PARENTS SIT IN THE STUDIO DURING THE LESSONS?
Yes! Because of our large studios, parents can sit in on any and all lessons if they wish. We understand that sometimes the student does not want the parent to be in the classroom during the lessons (teenagers!), so we have a large, comfortable waiting area. Our studios also face the parking lot on ground level, this means you can sit in your car and observe the lesson. We have an open door policy, where we encourage all teachers and parents to enter the studios at any time.
WHEN CAN STUDENTS START?
Students are welcome to begin lessons at anytime, availability permitting. Lessons are prorated based on starting time within the month.
WHAT DO YOU TEACH IN YOUR LESSONS?
We offer a full range of learning, however we tailor the lessons to each student, instead of a "1 size fits all" approach. We teach practical music theory as well as guitar theory. We teach students how to read chord charts and how to play the guitar. Our methods are varied, but we use the students favorite music to teach all these things. Each studio is fitted out with plenty of resources such as quality amplifiers, backing tracks, etc. Our MAIN emphasis is that the student has FUN learning with us, regardless of age, ability or genre of interest!!
DOES MY STUDENT HAVE TO BRING THEIR OWN INSTRUMENT?
It is always best that the student bring their own instrument when learning guitar, bass or band instruments, however other instruments such as drums, piano/keyboards, etc. this is not really practical. In the event that a student cannot bring their guitar, bass or band instrument we can offer a spare instrument for them to use in the lesson if necessary.
CAN MORE THAN ONE PERSON TAKE LESSONS AT THE SAME TIME?
Yes! We can schedule students back to back if you prefer they have their own one-on-one lessons. Or, they can take lessons together, which costs and additional $7 per extra student. This option is only available with our 60 minute lessons.
WHAT KIND OF GUITAR SHOULD I USE?
Acoustic or Electric. The type of guitar doesn't matter as much as the quality of the guitar. A beginner style guitar is fine, as long as you don't buy it in the toy section. The most important thing is that you like the guitar, and that it stays in tune and is playable. Get an acoustic guitar if you like acoustic style music. Get an electric guitar and an amp if you like rock. Eventually, you will have both.
HOW LONG SHOULD I EXPECT TO PRACTICE?
For the best results, we recommend that you practice 30-60 minutes EVERYDAY! Consistent practice 7 days a week is more productive than practicing 2-3 hours twice a week. Students who practice 6-7 days per week ALWAYS out perform those who practice less.
DO YOU SELL GUITARS?
No. However, we recommend Music Central in Colorado Springs. They always have a great variety of very affordable, quality beginner guitars in both acoustic and electric.
DO YOU RENT GUITARS?
Yes, we do, but not always! We have a small acoustic available for the under 10 crowd and we also have an electric guitar and amp available for rent. Rates are $15 per month for the acoustic and $25 per month for the electric guitar and amp. A deposit is also required. Call for more details and to check availability.
